About 3D Climbing Coaching

We believe that all 3 of these dimensions are vital for overall climbing performance.

  1. Your personalized training program will involve strength exercises that will help you push past plateau and improve your weaknesses. Strength training is important to keep your body stronger for powerful moves, and helps prevent injuries.

  2. Technique is an important element of climbing. We use video analysis to review your technique and movement. Your training program will include key exercises to improve your technique.

  3. Thirdly, mental strength and confidence is the last puzzle piece for climbing harder and performing when needed. Whether that be in competitions, outdoor projects or during your training sessions, you need to believe you can succeed.

About your coaches

Hello,

My name is Cirrus Tan. I am a qualified Personal Trainer and Climbing Coach specializing in Strength and Conditioning with over 15 years coaching experience.

I have represented New Zealand in climbing competitions, and became National Champion at the Combined Climbing Competition in 2019.

I competed in both the Oceania’s Olympic Qualifiers in Australia.

I placed 1st in National Lead Competition and 3rd in National Boulder Competition in 2022.

After the birth of my baby in 2023, I came back to competitions and placed 2nd in Lead Nationals, 2nd in Boulder Nationals, and 1st in National Indoor Boulder Series (NIBS) claiming the overall title for Open Females.

My climbing coaching philosophy is centred around strength, technique and mental. I use my knowledge and experience to help other climbers climb harder.

Hello!

My name is Sofya Yokoyama, and I’m a 26-year-old professional climber from Switzerland. I’ve been competing internationally, winning multiple Swiss Bouldering Cups and recently placing 11th at the Bouldering World Cup in Innsbruck. I’ve also been spending more time outdoors, I have sent multiple 8As, and am currently focused on my 8B project.

While I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, I’m always working to improve and take my climbing to the next level.

Throughout my journey, I’ve had the privilege to train with amazing athletes and coaches, yet I’ve also had to learn a lot on my own—making mistakes along the way but gaining invaluable lessons from each one. These experiences have helped me grow as an athlete, and I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with others.

I’ve had the chance to coach a few climbers here and there, but recently have had the opportunity to dive deeper into coaching. Sharing my experience and coaching others has always been something I’ve wanted to do and I’m excited to help others set and achieve their climbing goals.

Cirrus will conduct calls and be the primary coach working with you, and Sofya will have input with the personalised training prescribed.
